To prepare the required file for printing ID cards using Canva, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the “Create a Design” button.
  2. Choose the custom size option.
  3. Input the size in inches [in]:
    • Portrait or vertical orientation: 2.18 x 3.47
    • Landscape or horizontal orientation: 3.47 x 2.18
  4. Ensure that no important details are placed near the layout edge.
  5. Create 2 pages per card: 1 front and 1 back.
    • For example, for 100 cards, create 200 pages.
    • Unless you have a single generic back design,200 front pages, and 1 back page only.
  6. Rename each page to match the card owner’s name.
    • For example: “John front, John back” | “Jane front, Jane back”
  7. Download the file in PDF Print format.
  8. Choose RGB [best of digital use] under Color Profile.
  9. Send us one properly labeled PDF file for printing.

Please note that these instructions are provided assuming a basic understanding of Photoshop.

To prepare the required size for printing ID cards using Photoshop, follow these steps:

  1. Open the app and input the size in inches: 2.125″ x 3.37″ or 3.37″ x 2.125″.
  2. Input a resolution of 300 pixels/inch in the resolution box and choose “pixels/inch” from the dropdown menu. Click OK.
  3. Mark the edge of the card using the ruler.
  4. Click on “Canvas Size” under the “Image” menu and input the size as 2.18″ x 3.47″ or 3.47″ x 2.18″.
  5. Fill the entire canvas with your desired background, keeping in mind that anything outside the margin/ruler will be trimmed in the printing process. Avoid placing important details, such as names, outside the margin.
  6. Save the file as PNG, JPG, or TIFF.
  7. Create 2 files per card: 1 front and 1 back.
    • For example, for 100 cards, you should have 200 files.
    • Unless you have a single generic back design, create 200 front files and 1 back file.
  8. Rename each file with the card owner’s name.
    • Example: “John front, John back” | “Jane front, Jane back.”
